CBB 12/30 Temple-Villanova

Let's try this one tonight.

#509 Temple+6(Winner)

Villanova (10-1) is ranked 8th. Temple (9-2) is ranked 25th. Rankings are more about what voters thought you were supposed to be than actual performance.

The Owls are 15th in the RPI, the Wildcats 34th. Why? Temple, with games against Seton Hall, Georgia, Maryland, Georgetown and Texas A&M, has the 33rd-ranked strength of schedule while 'Nova, with a backloaded schedule filled with brutal Big East games, has a schedule strength of 154.

Don't be fooled by the rankings.
These teams are very evenly matched.
The Owls took Nova out last year.
And I think they are better now.

"They are really good," Wright said. "I actually think they are better than last year. Obviously, they gave us trouble last year. In the last few games, Randall is hitting shots, Moore scoring the way he is and Khalif Wyatt now. They've got some weapons. And [Micheal] Eric and Lavoy Allen have been studs for the last few years. And Fernandez isn't even making shots yet."

"We're similar to them," Wright said. "I think we're starting to get a feel for who we are and how we want to use people. I think they might be a little bit ahead of us right now, but we're both at about the same point."

These kids see each other all the time, so this is for big-time City bragging rights. I know Ramone Moore and I used to give him hell when 'Nova was dominating this series. But now the tables have turned, and I know he wants to have a big game and beat us again. I'll be shocked if this doesn't go down to the wire. So I think Temple+6 is a solid play.

Best Wishes!!

Yeah, it was a tight one, and it looked like it might slip away.
But Temple kept playing, got a few breaks and hung tough.
The Owls will be hard to beat because they can lock down on defense.
Should see both of these teams dancing in March.

Congrats and Cheers Winners!!

CFB Weds 12/29

CFB YTD 86-68-3

Haven't touched the Bowls yet.
Some of these games I just can't get into.
Anyway, let's try this one tonight.

Arizona+4.5(loss)

Best Wishes!!

This turned out to be a garbage pick.
AZ had chances to make noise, but their QB kept throwing picks.
We move on.

NFL Tues 12/28

NFL YTD 76-53-3

Came up on the short end last night.
Let's try this tonight.
This could get ugly.

Vikings+14.5(-115)(Winner)

Best Wishes!!

Wow, I thought Minny would make it interesting.
But I didn't see an upset coming.
It almost felt like the Eagles tanked the game.
Now, they get what amounts to a bye this week.
But they'll have to host a damn good wildcard team next week.
And risk going into the playoffs with no momentum.

Congrats and Cheers Winners!!

MNF 12/27

NFL YTD 76-52-3

Let's try this tonight.

Falcons-2.5(loss)
Hard to say the Falcons are under the radar at 12-2.
But I still don't think they get enough credit.
They're just solid, not sexy.
That's why there's good 2 way action on this one.
Gotta respect what the Saints have done.
But the Ravens showed you can get physical with them.
That's exactly what Atlanta is gonna try to do.
And "Matty Ice" Ryan has been virtually unbeatable at home.
So gimme the dirty birds laying less than 3.
It should be a good one.

Best Wishes!!

Falcons couldn't make the plays when it counted.
Drew Brees and the Saints took care of business.
So we get the loss here.

NFL Week 16

NFL YTD 73-49-3

We went 5-2 last week.
Let's try these today.

Early
Redskins+7(Winner)
Bears-2.5(-116)(Winner)
Browns+3.5(loss)
Titans+4(loss)

Late
Packers-3(Winner)
Texans-2.5(loss)
Vikings+14(PPD)

Best Wishes!!

The Texans couldn't hold a big lead.

And the Eagles game was PPD, no action.

So we end up 3-3 for the day.

The Eagles clinched the NFC East, so it wasn't all bad.

Need the Pack to take out the Bears next week

Then the Eagles would have a shot at #2 seed and a bye.

CFB Fri 12/17

CFB YTD 85-68-3

Let's try this one tonight.

#342 E. Washington+9(Winner)
This is a National Semi-final, and I'll be rooting for 'Nova.
The Eagles will be without their stud RB.
But Nova's playing their 3rd straight road game.
And they've traveled close to 10,000 miles.
Just think this spread might be more than they can handle in this spot.

Best Wishes!!

"Obviously, I'm disappointed in the turnovers," coach Andy Talley said. "I think maybe the travel caught up to us a little bit. We'd already been to Texas and we've been all over. It's finals week for us, and our kids were taking finals [Thursday]. That's not an excuse, but it has been a rough road for us."

I'm proud of my fellow Villanovans.
They showed the heart of a Champion.
But you can't turn the ball over 6 times against anyone.
It's a credit that they were even in the game, really.
EWU took advantage of the TO's, and got the win.
We clearly had the right side here.
Congrats and Cheers Winners!!

NFL Week 15 Early Leans

These may end up being plays.
They were just 6-6 last week.
I went 6-4 with my plays.
So these are just a starting point.
Waiting for lines on the night games.
Anyway this is what it looks like for this week.

Rams
Titans
Colts
Panthers
Browns
Cowboys
Lions
Seahawks
Steelers
Raiders

Best Wishes!!

NFL Betting Article (Stat-Fox)

NFL betting trends for Thursday participants
By: Michael Hill - StatFox
Published: 12/8/2010 at 7:08:00 AM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The introduction of Thursday games in the latter part of the season provides some teams with what amounts to a second bye week at a time when some extra rest can be very beneficial. Wagering on these teams the week following these late-season Thursday games has proven to be very successful.
Starting with Week 10, there have been six Thursday games (we are not including the season opener between Minnesota and New Orleans in this study).

Since last Thursday’s participants (Houston and Philadelphia) have yet to take the field again, that leaves us with 10 teams to examine. There have also been two games featuring a pair of teams that played a Thursday game the week before so we’ve tossed those games from the study for the time being. The six remaining teams in this study are a perfect 6-0 ATS in their next games (5-1 SU). Restated, six teams that have participated in a late-season Thursday night game have faced a team that did not have the benefit of the extra rest the following week, and all six of these teams have beaten the spread. When you put the two games in which both teams were coming off the extra rest back into the mix, straight-up losers of Thursday night games are 5-0 ATS in their next games (3-2 SU).

Houston and Philadelphia will be looking to keep these angles perfect in Week 14. The Texans, last Thursday’s losers, are a home underdog to Baltimore on Monday Night Football. Keep in mind that the Ravens are exiting an extremely physical loss to Pittsburgh, which probably took an emotional toll on the team as well. As we pointed out earlier in the week, Houston has been one of the best home teams in the NFL over the final four weeks of the regular season during the past five years, posting an ATS record of 9-3 (75%).

Philadelphia, which defeated Houston last Thursday, is favored at Dallas in the Sunday night prime time game. The Cowboys are a dismal 2-7 ATS (22%) at home in the final quarter of the season over the last five years. The Cowboys are just 2-4 ATS at home this season.

Believe it or not, we have also uncovered a highly successful angle involving a certain group of teams that have had shorter rest periods between games.

With their 45-3 pasting of the NY Jets on Monday, New England became just the sixth home team to win outright on Monday Night Football this season (6-8 SU, 7-7 ATS). Like the five home winners before them, the Patriots will be on the road (at Chicago) for their next game after a short week of preparation. Contrary to conventional wisdom, this has been a successful formula in 2010.

Teams playing on the road on Sunday after winning at home on Monday are 4-1 ATS (80%) this season (3-2 SU). The most recent example of this came in Week 12 when San Diego humiliated Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium after defeating division rival Denver at Qualcomm the preceding Monday.

The Patriots are a solid 4-2 on the road both ATS and SU so far this season and are 2-0 both ATS and SU against the NFC North. The Bears are an even 3-3 ATS at home (4-2 SU).

NFL Week 13 Fiasco

I'm sorry about not being able to post my picks this past Sunday.

My computer died, and I was limited to my cell phone for the internet.

I did get to post my picks in a thread I started at sportsforumworld.

I know it's cheesey, but I'm gonna count these picks in my record.

And they went 6-2, making me 7-2 for the week including the Eagles play.

Here's the thread for verification.

http://www.sportsforumworld.com/showthread.php?t=7287

I just feel bad that I was not able to post them here.

Bash me if you want, but I think I've earned the benefit of the doubt.

We move on.

NFL Thurs 12/2

NFL YTD 55-41-3

Let's try this tonight.

Eagles-8(Winner)
Birds in a foul mood after letting Cutler go nuts.
Texans may be feeling fat after KO-ing Tenny.
I have been terrible with these Thursday games.
And hate laying this kinda number.
But it looks like the right side.
So we'll see how it goes.

Best Wishes!!

The Eagles managed to get there.

But it wasn't easy as the Texans were tough.

Congrats and Cheers Winners!!
